FOOD SERVICE WORKER

Job Summary
Under general supervision, this position assists with the food preparation, serving and cleaning of the kitchen at the Senior Center.

Essential Functions

1. Serves food at the counter.
   
   
2. Assists with kitchen clean up and maintenance.
   
   
3. Sets up and moves equipment as necessary.
   
   
4. Serves as dishwasher.
   
   
5. Interacts with staff and the public utilizing the senior center.
   
   
6. May perform other duties in support of the Community Services Department as assigned including but not limited to: city-wide events, day care, youth and adult sports, teen programs, recreation classes, aquatics, facility management, senior citizen programs, and other related services.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Skills:

Possess clear verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to:

Effectively communicate with all levels of the public, including senior citizens, and those with special needs, City staff, and management, as well as outside community, health, safety and government organizations.

Education and Experience Guidelines

Qualifying for consideration in the selection process will be based on the description listed above under Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, and any combination of education and experience as described below.

Experience: Six months of experience working in the food service industry is required.

Licenses/Certificates:

A valid California Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record is preferred but not required.

Physical Profile - Category II:

Positions in this category require moderate physical exertion associated with the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or climb, which involve the safeguarding of individuals, public and property.
