RECREATION LEADER (Part-time - Limited Service)
This is a part-time position without benefits and works up to 30 hours a week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent desirable. One year of college training in
recreation or related field, or one year of recreation experience. Must be 18 years old at the time of hire.
DUTIES
Under general supervision plans, organizes, and conducts adult and children recreation activities; instruction in games, sports, arts and crafts, human services, leads games, contests, and group activities for all ages; insures that recreation activities are positive; interacts with public and other staff in programming as needed; maintains attendance records; collects fees and issue receipts; maintains inventories and issues supplies and equipment; provides support for events/programs, e.g., fliers, publicity releases, facility coordination, etc.; acts as official in games; assists with minor maintenance of recreation facilities; maintains compliance with health and safety programs; and performs other related duties as assigned.
SELECTION PROCESS
Candidates meeting the minimum requirements will have their qualifications screened and those candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to participate in a panel interview. An eligibility list will be established based on interview scores and candidates will be selected based upon their rank (Band 1, 2, or 3) on the eligibility list.

Apply to the City of West Covina Human Resources Department. A City Application is required and must be submitted before the closing date. Postmarks will NOT be accepted. Qualified candidates will be notified at a later time with the date and place of the examination.
Under the City's examination procedure, failure on any part of the announced examination will be grounds for disqualification of an applicant.
Applicants requiring special accommodations for testing must notify the Human Resources Department prior to test administration consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Prior to the first day of employment, selected candidates will be required to pass a physical exam and will be fingerprinted.
