This is a part-time position without benefits and works up to 30 hours a week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent is desirable. Two years of college training in recreation, education, physical education or a related field; or 2 years of paid experience in recreation leadership is required. The ability to perform First Aid and CPR Training, and knowledge of sports rules and regulations, as well as coaching techniques is desirable. The ability to use Microsoft Word is preferred. A valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is required.
DUTIES
Under the direction of the Recreation Services Supervisor or Community Services
Coordinator, this position coordinates and maintains Facility Use Agreements; trains, assigns and oversees staff in various duties; oversees recreation-related programming; prepares and implements publicity and public relations; insures that all attendance reports are completed and submitted to Supervisor; insures that all recreation site, equipment, and supplies are adequate and in good condition; evaluates, counsels and disciplines staff as necessary; attends staff meetings and training sessions as requested; acts as Supervisor upon the Supervisor's requests in his/her absence; assists with set-up/tear down duties as needed; assists with site budget preparation, and budget monitoring; responsible for on-site publicity, i.e. large monthly calendar and marquee; assists with front office operations and park reservations as requested and performs other related duties as assigned.
SELECTION PROCESS
Candidates meeting the minimum requirements will have their qualifications screened and those candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to participate in a panel interview. An eligibility list will be established based on interview scores and candidates will be selected based upon their rank (Band 1, 2, or 3) on the eligibility list. Prior to the first day of work, selected candidates must pass a physical examination and may be fingerprinted.

Apply to the City of West Covina Human Resources Department. A City Application is required and must be submitted before the closing date. Postmarks will NOT be accepted. Qualified candidates will be notified at a later time with the date and place of the examination.
Under the City's examination procedure, failure on any part of the announced examination will be grounds for disqualification of an applicant.
Applicants requiring special accommodations for testing must notify the Human Resources Department prior to test administration consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Prior to the first day of employment, selected candidates will be required to pass a physical exam.
