AGENDA
I. REQUEST:
City of West Covina
THAT TRAFFIC CONTROL CONDITIONS BE REVIEWED AT THE INTERSECTION OF AROMA DRIVE AND GALSTER WAY.
SUMMARY:
There are two City parks adjacent to Aroma Drive with potential high concentration of park users with young children in this area. The primary concerns are vehicular speed and pedestrian safety. In order to warn drivers of a potential hazardous condition, it is recommended to install Playground Signs and 25 mph speed limit sign (R2-1) with a playground plate in advance of the playground, and also a multi-way stop at the intersection of Aroma Drive and Galster Way with marked crosswalks.
RECOMMENDATION:
THAT STOP SIGNS (R1) BE INSTALLED ALONG WITH STOP MESSAGES AND STOP AHEAD SIGNS (W17) ON THE NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND APPROACHES OF AROMA DRIVE AT GALSTER WAY BASED ON RESTRICTED SIGHT DISTANCE.
THAT PLAYGROUND SIGNS BE INSTALLED ON NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND AROMA DRIVE AND 25 MPH SPEED LIMIT SIGNS WITH PLAYGROUND PLATES IN ADVANCE OF THE PARKS.
THAT A 2-HOUR LIMITED TIME PARKING RESTRICTION BE ESTABLISHED ON THE EAST SIDE AROMA DRIVE ALONG THE FRONTAGE OF THE NEW CITY PARK.
