AGENDA
I. REQUEST:
Martha Hernandez, West Covina Resident
THAT NO PARKING ON STREET SWEEPING DAYS BE IMPLEMENTED ON TOLAND AVENUE FROM IDAHOME AVENUE TO NORTH GARVEY AVENUE.
SUMMARY:
In response to a request to prohibit parking to facilitate street sweeping on Toland Avenue, a survey of the nineteen affected properties was conducted. Ten (53%) of the properties responded in favor of prohibiting parking on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., three were not in favor and six of the properties did not reply to the survey.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
THAT NO PARKING ON STREET SWEEPING DAYS BE IMPLEMENTED ON TOLAND AVENUE FROM IDAHOME AVENUE TO NORTH GARVEY AVENUE.
II. REQUEST:
Jarulv Egeland, West Covina Resident
THAT TRAFFIC CONDITIONS BE REVIEWED AT CORTEZ STREET FROM FORESTDALE AVENUE TO GRAND AVENUE.
SUMMARY:
The primary concern of the requesters is the high vehicle speeds along Cortez Street between Grand Avenue and Forestdale Avenue. Staff is recommending to install additional speed limit and advance warning signs.
STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
THAT ADDITIONAL SPEED LIMIT (R2-4) SIGNS WITH "RADAR ENFORCED" PLATE BE INSTALLED ALONG EAST AND WESTBOUND CORTEZ STREET BETWEEN GRAND AVENUE AND FORESTDALE AVENUE.
THAT W7-6, HILL BLOCK VIEW, AND W13-1, ADVISORY SPEED OF 25 MPH, SIGNS BE INSTALLED ON WESTBOUND CORTEZ STREET EAST OF CHARVERS AVENUE.
III. REQUEST:
Miriam Kim, Hollingworth Elementary School Principal
THAT A SCHOOL BUS LOADING ZONE BE ESTABLISHED AT HOLLINGWORTH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
SUMMARY:
The Principal for Hollingworth Elementary School, Miriam Kim, has requested that a school bus loading zone be established along the northerly curb on Hollingworth Street. It would be located between Sentous Street and the school's most westerly driveway. This would enable the students to load and un-load safely away from traffic.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
THAT A SCHOOL BUS LOADING ZONE BE ESTABLISHED AT HOLLINGWORTH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
