PENSKE MERCEDES-BENZ WEST COVINA SERVICE & PARTS CENTER GRAND OPENING
WEST COVINA, CA - Penske Motorcars, Mercedes-Benz, the City of West Covina, and the West Covina Community Development Commission are pleased to announce the Grand Opening event on July 7, 2007 at 12:00 noon to celebrate the opening of the Penske Mercedes-Benz Service & Parts Center located at 1829 E. Garvey N., West Covina, California.
The Penske Mercedes-Benz Service & Parts Center has relocated from the Penske Mercedes dealership located at 2010 E. Garvey Avenue into its own building north of Interstate-10 freeway. This relocation has enabled Penske to maximize their existing Mercedes-Benz dealership building for new and pre-owned car sales and a separate building focusing on service and parts.
In June of 2005, Penske started this project by purchasing the El Dorado Motor Inn and former Mexican Jones Restaurant site. On February 28, 2006 the West Covina Planning Commission approved the development of the new service & parts center and construction began in July 2006.
The City of West Covina and the City of West Covina Community Development Commission has provided Penske Motorcars and Mercedes-Benz entitlement assistance in facilitating the development of the new service & parts center.
Penske Motorcars Mercedes-Benz Service & Parts Center is a state of the art facility in an 80,239 square foot building and a two level parking structure. This service and parts center includes 97 service & detail bays on the ground level and a total of 505 parking stalls on the 2 parking levels. The service center also includes a café, kids area, parts boutique & performance center, business center, Gullwing Cafe, entertainment areas and a car rental counter. Penske estimates that the new service & parts center will generate approximately $65,000 in annual sales tax revenue, and approximately $300,000 in annual property taxes. The project is also expected to create 40 new jobs in addition to the 144 existing jobs.
"West Covina is pleased that one of our community's valued dealership operators has been able to expand within our City. We are excited to welcome the Penske Mercedes-Benz Service & Parts Center to its new location." Mayor Michael Touhey
