THE GAS COMPANY INCREASES FUNDING FOR RESIDENTIAL ENERGY-EFFICIENCY REBATES TO $6.2 MILLION

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 5, 2008 - Southern California Gas Company (The Gas Company) announced that it will provide up to $6.2 million in rebates this year to residential customers who buy energy-efficient natural gas appliances - an increase of $2.7 million from last year.

"We want to encourage more customers to buy energy-efficient appliances," said Mark Gaines, director of customer programs for The Gas Company. "Energy efficiency is a practical way to reduce your monthly gas bills and help the environment as well."

The Gas Company currently offers the following rebates for qualifying energy-efficient residential natural gas appliances:

ENERGY STAR® furnaces: $200
Tankless water heaters: $200
Clothes washers: $35
Dishwashers: $30
Storage water heaters: $30
Attic/wall insulation: $0.15 per square foot

Customers can often receive rebates immediately through reductions in the purchase price at the point of sale. These "instant rebates" are available for qualifying clothes washers, dishwashers and water heaters sold at participating retailers.

All rebates and incentives are subject to change without notice and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis as long as funding is available. These programs are funded by California utility customers and administered by The Gas Company under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission.

Southern California Gas Co. has been delivering clean, safe and reliable natural gas to its customers for more than 140 years. It is the nation's largest natural gas distribution utility, providing safe and reliable energy to 20.1 million consumers through 5.6 million meters in more than 500 communities.
