NOTICE OF VACANCY
ON THE
COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN GIVEN that a vacancy exists on the Community Services Commission effective April 28, 2008. Anyone interested in serving on this commission is encouraged to apply. Please see the commission description below. Applications are available from the City Clerk's Office at City Hall, Room 317 or on our website at www.westcovina.org/council/commissions2.html. Please submit completed applications to the City Clerk's Office as soon as possible. The vacancy will be filled no sooner than May 12, 2008.

The vacancy shall be filled by appointment by Mayor Sherri Lane. All appointees serve at the pleasure of the appointing Councilmember and for the same term as that Councilmember.

Community Services Commission

The Community Services Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters pertaining to the community services needs of the citizens of West Covina relating to public recreational services, cultural activities and special events, youth services, public transportation, neighborhood and human relations and human rights. This Commission also provides the major citizen participation vehicle for the City's Community Development Block Grant program as well as a forum for citizen expression and involvement. This Commission provides input to the Planning Commission on the master planning of Parks, and assists with the acquisition, development and maintenance of park and recreation facilities in the community. Each Councilmember appoints two individuals to this Commission and each appointee serves at the pleasure of their appointing Councilmember. The Commission meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Commissioners receive a $100/month stipend.
